On September 29, 2015, a wonderful person and the original “JAIAnt” (JAIA YOUth Leader), Garygene Leon Jefferson, passed away after a brave battle with cancer. He lives on in our hearts and the work of JAIA. He was the embodiment of the youth that JAIA serves – someone who seeks self awareness mastery, and is capable of becoming a conscious leader of his or her community. He continues to be our inspiration and the soul of JAIA. In honor of his memory and his efforts to fulfill JAIA’s mission, and in order to carry on his legacy, we are launching a memorial fund in his name. The Garygene Leon Jefferson Memorial Scholarship Fund JAIAnt STEPS Campaign offers scholarships to youth in support of their personal development, mental health and vision for the future.
